Since its debut CD, Island Surfer Girl, Pipeline Band has established itself as a popular alternative/ island reggae band. Island Surfer Girl reached #2 on the local record chart list, behind Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.

Pipeline Band’s second release, Shadow Reef adds a new and unique reggae style to their music- combining rock and alternative riffs. The first track, Ready to Rock, reveals this style and showcases Greg Amanonce’s original reggae rap. Stranger to My Eyes and Need Your Love, fall into the ‘’Lover’s Reggae Style’’ and display the vocal talents of Troy Cacal. Fisherman and Mr. Reggae are also stand outs, which features Cacal singing reggae island style. In addition, Pipeline Band demonstrates its creativity and diversity in Such A Good Girl, a catchy alternative track with a light reggae drop. Soon I’ll Be Seeing You, an original song written by Michelle C and Kelly Scott, is a beautiful slack key love song.

Amanounce, Michelle C, and additional band members complement Cacal with strong vocals. Award winning song writer, Kelly Scott (guitar) adds originals while Craig Murata displays his talents on the bass. Val Vasquez and Wayne Mezurashi both display their talents on the guitars.

The album is produced by award winning producer Pierre grill and Kelly Scott. Pipeline band has performed at nearly every major venue in Hawaii.

John Burger of the Honolulu Star Bulletin wrote about Shadow Reef, ‘’ The Pipeline Band returns in impressive style with Shadow Reef. They open with a song that evokes memories of Big Mountain and shrewdly maintain that vibe through much of the album. Sounding like the perennially popular West Coast reggae band certainly can’t hurt a local act’s chances of getting radio play! The group, however, has more going for it than that. Mainstream rock and acoustic pop elements gradually become evident in some of the later songs that show that the group has broader musical horizons, as well as an extensive repertoire of original songs’’.  Wayne Harada of the Honolulu Advertiser wrote about the band’s outlook, ‘’ A band ready for the big push; should be appealing to the reggae, Jawaiian followers. The original tunes should help establish the Pipeliners as a fresh and creative force.’’
